About Me

Hello! My name is Natalie and I’m currently studying a Fashion Brand Marketing (BA Hons) degree at The University of Huddersfield. Fashion has always played a key part in my life even from a young age… As a child I remember flicking through my grandma’s old design books, visualising the delicate hand drawn images of elegant dresses and tailored blouses come to life in front of my eyes. My mother regularly took me to fashion, art and photography exhibitions where I would spend hours gazing at the creativity of others. As I grew older, I began to look forward to waking up in the morning just to be able to style my outfit for the day ahead. I started to regularly keep up-to-date with all the latest fashion news and actively sought out current and up-and-coming trends. My initial interest that had been ignited at a young age had grown into a genuine love and passion for the industry and that was my light bulb moment! I realised that I wanted a career doing something I loved. I already lived and breathed fashion so why not work in it too!?

After studying art and design, photography and textiles at college I got the opportunity to work at New Look as a sales advisor and from there worked my way up to become a store supervisor and then moved into visual merchandising. This was by far my favourite role within the company. Every week I lost myself inside the VM guidelines book.. Gazing at the key trends, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the delivery trucks every Tuesday and Thursday to get my hands on the latest garments. I loved the freedom that visual merchandising gave me to pursue my passion for styling but I also began to notice my growing obsession with the vast array of trend knowledge available at my fingertips. My focus began to shift more towards current trends whilst seeking out future trends through multi-media platforms. I craved more information and wanted to expand my knowledge every day. It was this thirst for knowledge that led me to apply for university several years later and begin to find my calling in the fashion industry.
