Future Direction

Since starting university, I discovered the magical world of WGSN. A trend forecasting company founded in 1988 in London. They broke into the market with a pioneering online trend library and were the first company to combine high-end technology with human ingenuity to meet the unique needs of the global creative industry. With over 250 trend forecasters and data scientists globally, they help 6,500 businesses stay relevant whilst offering growth opportunities.

As I’m now approaching the end of my second year at university I have been thinking a lot more about my future direction. As a business WGSN stood out to me from day one. Working for such a prestigious company would be a dream come true. However, thousands of people across the world would more than likely think the same. So to get there, I have set myself goals to stand out from the crowd…

  • Focus on achieving a 1st in my degree.
  • Keep up-to-date with all the latest fashion and trend knowledge.
  • Volunteer to collaborate on projects to improve versatility.
  • Create a fabulous portfolio showing off my best work.
  • Identify job roles advertised by WGSN (such as the one to the right) and comparison my skills with the ‘key responsibilities’.
  • Attend trend talks and trade shows organised by WGSN.
  • Connect with key people within the business on social media and LinkedIn.
  • Research all there is to know on the company. Knowledge is essential!
  • Apply for a job and fingers crossed that I get asked for an interview!
